Elinor Lake has been a popular place to visit for over 100 years. In 1927, a story in the Edmonton Journal called the area a "campers’ paradise." Most still see it that way.

Elinor Lake originally became a resort in 1995. It included cabins for rent and a 200 lot campground. In 2007, the campground area was converted to bareland condo.

This means visitors can now buy or rent their own lake lot. The sale lots are in the designated bareland condo area. The leased lots are in the seasonal area.
